I am a frequent traveller to Bangalore and I have always stayed at the Taj Residency. This time Ista was the only place I could get a room at the same price as Taj Residency (the remaining good hotels were priced at least 20% higher). Anyways, the room and the facilities at Ista are good - up to the mark of any 5 star hotel. But their service was just terrible. During the 5 days I stayed there, literally every day I walked into the restaurant for breakfast I would wait looking at the staff walking up & down and then myself ask to be seated. After getting seated, you would then wait to realize that the only way to get attention is by calling someone and ask for the menu (even to the extent they forgot my order one day and I had cancel it as I was getting late for the office). There is no bell desk and the cashier at the front desk was looking around as to what to do when I asked for help to get the lagguage from my room. In a 5-star hotel like this, I would expect that they recognize the guest when you call from your room, instead when I placed a dinner order from my room, the person who took at the order asked who and where I was calling from. Most annoying was the loud music from the bar in the 4th floor could be heard in my room in the 9th floor. In summary, the hotel looks like it is run by some some kids (may be all family members) and not by professionals. I do not recommend this place.
First time staying at the Ista. I regularly stay at the Oberoi, which was full this time round. Very compact hotel, rooms are well appointed, modern finishings and fittings, albeit a little cramped. In-room internet is still wired. For a small hotel, it would have been better if it were wi-fi. Breakfast buffet is simple continental. Gym is small but adequately equipped. Beautiful lap pool.
I had heard that this was a new hotel and a brand I had not heard of before. The room was great, very modern, slightly small though but very comfortable. the best part was the restaurants, service and thw whole feel of the hotel
This hotel is new and has only been open for a few months. As a result there was still a lot of building work going on in the hotel, in addition it was directly opposite another building site which was quite noisy at all hours of the day/night. Overall i could not complain about the hotel, it was clean and the staff were friendly, however i would only recommend it for a short stay, since the restuarant menu choice is limited and there is not much to do within the hotel. The hotel entertainment was not great, the bar was closed most days and we spent many nights over the road at the Taj and Oberoi where the choice of entertainment and restauarants were ample in comparison. The rooms were small but ok for business requirements and the views of Bangalore city were great. I would not recommend it if your looking for a luxury break.
Hotels in Bangalore are pretty expensive. I found this to be reasonably priced compared to the others I had researched. The hotel seems to be recently remodeled as all the furniture was new and in very good condition. The rooms are medium size and I had some trouble with the internet access there. I had the staff help me a couple of times with connectivity which was available only intermittently. Bangalore has power issues and we did lose power at the hotel a couple of times during the day. The complimentary breakfast is really good. Staff is extremely courteous and nice. I will love to stay there again.
This is a superb place to relax from exhausting Bangalore. Great Service, charming people, fabulous design. Food is good, there is a nicely styled and really long pool to excercise, beside a gym with good treadmills, bikes, steam and sauna. Everything is beatufully designed and will meet the needs of most of nowadays travellers. Absolutely recommendable!
Great room; everything works. Pleasant staff. Great gym Clean food. A truly fine hotel.
I have stayed at the Ista on business on and off since Nov 07 and would not stay anywhere else in Bangalore! I stayed there with my team, having first read the reviews on trip advisor and can only say that its all true! The hotel staff are all very friendly, the food is great and the bar staff fantastic! The rooms are good, the shower is very good, the beds are very comfortable. The hotel is very central.
At more than 300 USD/night, this place is way overpriced. The place is clean, modern and the room is SMALL! It also comes with overpriced food and internet access.
Stayed at the Ista three days while on business travel. The hotel is very sleek and contemporary in style. The staff are superb and extremely friendly. The rooms are small for a hotel in this price range, but otherwise well appointed and comfortable. The bathroom is very modern with chrome and glass. No bathtub, but an extra large shower, the nicest I have seen anywhere. I even took pictures of the bathroom! I was foturnate to stay on the back side with a great view of the lake. My colleague had a room on the front side, her view was looking down at the neighboring apartments and all their rooftop laundry and storage, but she said that it was not especially noisy. Zaman, the Indian restaurant, offers a great variety of both north and south Indian cuisine. I did not know until here that India makes wine, and it was good quality too. Breakfast buffet in the Lido restuarant was very good as well, not to mention pleasant dining by the Infinity pool. Expensive, but excellent service in return.
We had a wonderful stay at the Ista in Dec/Jan. A 5 star hotel with lovely staff, who were always helpful, and could not do enough to help us. The decor and facilities are great, swimming in the roof top pool every morning was a highlight. Wonderful to stay in a 5 star hotel that is not trying to be a fake palace, or like 5 star hotels everywhere else around the world. This hotel has a unique modern style, and I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you Ista for a memorable stay in Bangalore.
